Lemon Garlic Baked Fish Recipe for an Easy Healthy Dinner

Lemon garlic baked fish made with fresh lemon, garlic, and olive oil. An easy oven recipe perfect for a healthy dinner.

How to Make Lemon Garlic Baked Fish in the Oven

A home cook often needs a meal that tastes fresh, cooks fast, and uses simple items. This lemon garlic baked fish recipe fits that need. The dish brings clean citrus taste, warm garlic notes, and soft white fish in one pan. You get a full meal that suits weeknights, meal prep, and family dinners.

This dish works well for cooks who want a healthy fish dinner without long prep. You bake the fish in the oven, which keeps the texture moist and the flavor clean. The lemon juice adds a bright note, while olive oil adds balance. Garlic and spices give depth without heavy sauces.

Why This Recipe Works

This recipe relies on balance and ease. The oven heat cooks the fish fast and even. The lemon and garlic mix coats the fillets and keeps them from drying out. You can use cod, tilapia, or any firm white fish. That makes this an easy baked fish option for many homes.

Many people look for an oven baked fish dish that feels light but filling. This recipe meets that goal. It pairs well with rice, roasted vegetables, or a simple salad. The clean taste also fits meal plans and low-oil diets.

Flavor and Texture Description

The fish turns tender and flakes with a fork. Lemon juice cuts through the natural oil of the fish and keeps the bite fresh. Garlic adds warmth without sharpness. Paprika gives soft color and mild depth. Oregano adds a light herb note.

Each bite tastes clean and smooth. The sauce stays light and coats the fish instead of pooling in the pan. This balance makes the dish a strong choice for a baked white fish recipe that feels fresh, not heavy.

Lemon Garlic Baked Fish Recipe Ingredients (4 Servings)

  • 4 fish fillets, 6 oz each (170 g each), cod or tilapia
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil (60 ml)
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced (about 12 g)
  • Juice of 2 lemons (about 6 tablespoons / 90 ml)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano (1 g)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (2 g)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (5 g)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper (1 g)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (8 g)

These items create a base for a garlic lemon fish fillets dish that stays simple and clear in taste.

Lemon Garlic Baked Fish Recipe Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Place the fish fillets in a baking dish in one layer.
  3. In a bowl, mix olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Pour the lemon garlic mix over the fish.
  5. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the fish flakes with a fork.
  6. Sprinkle parsley on top before serving.

This method supports a quick baked fish dinner with little cleanup.

Serving Ideas

Serve this dish with rice, quinoa, or mashed potatoes. Add steamed green beans, carrots, or broccoli for color and texture. A light salad with olive oil dressing also works well.

For meal prep, store leftovers in a sealed container in the fridge for up to two days. Reheat in the oven to keep the fish moist. This makes the dish useful as a simple fish recipe for busy schedules.

Nutrition and Benefits

Fish gives protein and key fats that support daily meals. Baking uses less oil than frying. Lemon adds taste without sugar or cream. Garlic supports clean flavor without heavy salt use.

This recipe fits many plans that focus on balance. It works as a healthy seafood recipe for families and solo cooks.

Recipe Tips

  • Use fresh lemon juice for best taste.
  • Choose fillets with even thickness for even cooking.
  • Do not overbake. Fish cooks fast and dries if left too long.
  • Try cod baked fish or tilapia baked fish based on what you find at the market.

These tips help keep the dish steady and repeatable.

Variations

Add sliced lemon on top before baking for more citrus aroma. Swap oregano with thyme or dill for a new herb note. Add sliced bell peppers or onions to the pan for a full tray meal.

Each option keeps the core of the lemon garlic baked fish recipe intact while adding choice.

Final Thoughts

This dish shows how simple items create strong results. You get fresh taste, clean texture, and fast cook time. The recipe suits new cooks and home cooks who want a steady fish meal. It stands as a reliable baked fish recipe you can return to each week.

Easy Baked Tahong Recipe

Savor Baked Tahong, a Filipino favorite with cheesy garlic topping on tender mussels. Perfect for gatherings or a tasty appetizer!

Baked Tahong Recipe: A Flavorful Filipino Appetizer with Cheese and Garlic

Baked Tahong is a well-loved Filipino appetizer that highlights the natural flavors of fresh green mussels (tahong). These mussels are topped with a delectable, creamy mixture before being baked to golden perfection. A favorite at parties and gatherings, this dish is as visually appealing as it is delicious, making it a show-stopping addition to any table.

Baked Tahong Appearance and Texture

Each mussel is served in its half-shell, creating an elegant presentation perfect for entertaining. The vibrant green shells form a striking contrast against the golden, bubbling topping made of melted cheese, breadcrumbs, garlic, and butter. The topping achieves a crisp, slightly caramelized crust, complementing the mussel’s tender, juicy meat. This combination of creamy and crunchy textures elevates the dish from simple to extraordinary.

Flavor Profile

The flavor of Baked Tahong is a delightful medley of savory, buttery richness and the mild, natural sweetness of the mussels. Garlic infuses the dish with a bold, aromatic layer, while the melted cheese adds indulgent creaminess. A sprinkle of breadcrumbs, if used, enhances the flavor with a subtle crunch. The dish is often finished with a squeeze of calamansi or lemon, which brightens the flavors and adds a refreshing tang that balances the richness of the topping.

Preparation

The preparation of Baked Tahong involves cleaning the mussels thoroughly and steaming them briefly to open their shells. The meat is then topped with a mixture of melted butter, garlic, and cheese, with optional ingredients like mayonnaise or cream for added richness. After assembly, the mussels are baked until the toppings are golden, bubbly, and slightly crisp. The heat enhances the mussels’ natural flavors and adds a smoky aroma that makes them irresistible.

Serving and Pairing

Fresh out of the oven, Baked Tahong is often served as a starter or a centerpiece dish at gatherings. It pairs beautifully with a light green salad or crusty bread, which can be used to scoop up the delicious topping. For drinks, a cold beer or a chilled glass of crisp white wine complements the creamy, savory flavors. To elevate the experience, consider adding a dipping sauce made of garlic butter or a simple calamansi and soy mix.

Baked Tahong Cultural Significance

Baked Tahong embodies Filipino ingenuity and the ability to transform simple, affordable ingredients into a luxurious dish. It is commonly served at family celebrations, fiestas, and holiday feasts, showcasing the communal and celebratory spirit of Filipino cuisine. This dish also reflects the Philippines’ abundant seafood resources and the locals’ love for bold, well-rounded flavors.

Whether enjoyed as an appetizer or the star of the meal, Baked Tahong is a dish that never fails to impress. Its blend of textures, flavors, and its beautiful presentation make it a staple in Filipino food culture and a favorite for food lovers worldwide.

Easy Bibingka Recipe

Bibingka is a traditional Filipino rice cake that holds a special place in the hearts of many, especially during the Christmas season.

Bibingka is a traditional Filipino rice cake that holds a special place in the hearts of many, especially during the Christmas season. Known for its soft, fluffy texture and subtle sweetness, it is typically enjoyed as a breakfast treat or merienda (afternoon snack), often paired with a hot cup of coffee or a warm drink.

Bibingka is traditionally made from a mixture of rice flour, coconut milk, and sugar, which is combined to create a smooth batter. This batter is then poured into a banana leaf-lined clay pot or pan, which imparts a distinctive aroma and flavor to the cake as it cooks. The use of banana leaves is a hallmark of bibingka, giving the cake its signature rustic appearance and slightly smoky taste.

The cooking process for bibingka is unique, involving a method where the cake is baked over and under hot coals. This traditional technique ensures even cooking, resulting in a cake that is perfectly cooked on the inside while developing a golden-brown crust on the outside. The texture of bibingka is often described as moist and tender, with a delicate crumb that melts in the mouth.

Once baked, bibingka is typically topped with a variety of ingredients that add both flavor and texture. Common toppings include grated coconut, butter, sugar, and slices of salted duck egg or cheese, which provide a savory contrast to the sweet base. These toppings not only enhance the flavor but also contribute to the visual appeal of the cake.

Bibingka is closely associated with the Filipino Christmas tradition of Simbang Gabi, a series of dawn masses held in the days leading up to Christmas. After attending mass, many Filipinos enjoy bibingka along with other traditional treats like puto bumbong. The aroma of freshly baked bibingka wafting through the cool morning air is a cherished part of the holiday experience.

Today, bibingka remains a beloved Filipino delicacy, enjoyed not only during the holiday season but throughout the year. Its unique combination of flavors, textures, and cultural significance makes it a timeless treat that continues to be passed down through generations.

Easy Cheesy Ube Pandesal Recipe

Easy Cheesy Ube Pandesal is a delightful fusion of traditional Filipino bread and the rich, vibrant flavors of ube, complemented by a cheesy surprise in the center.

Easy Cheesy Ube Pandesal is a delightful fusion of traditional Filipino bread and the rich, vibrant flavors of ube, complemented by a cheesy surprise in the center. This modern twist on the classic pandesal combines the slightly sweet, soft bread with the earthy sweetness of ube (purple yam), creating a visually stunning and delectable treat.

The preparation starts with making a smooth and elastic dough using all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, melted butter, eggs, and the key ingredient, ube halaya (purple yam jam). The addition of ube extract enhances both the color and flavor, making the bread irresistibly appealing. Active dry yeast dissolved in warm milk helps the dough rise, resulting in a fluffy texture.

Once the dough has doubled in size, it’s divided into 24 pieces, each filled with a generous teaspoon of grated cheese. Cheddar or mozzarella works well, providing a delicious, melty center that contrasts beautifully with the sweet ube flavor. The dough balls are then rolled in bread crumbs, giving the pandesal its signature slightly crunchy exterior.

After a second rise, the pandesal is baked until lightly golden brown. The aroma of freshly baked bread mingled with the sweet scent of ube is simply enticing. The final product is a batch of beautifully purple rolls with a lightly crisp exterior and a soft, fluffy interior. When bitten into, the pandesal reveals its gooey, cheesy core, making each bite a delightful mix of textures and flavors.

Easy Cheesy Ube Pandesal is perfect for breakfast, snacks, or any time you want a comforting, sweet-savory treat. Its unique combination of flavors and textures makes it a standout among bread recipes, and its vibrant color is sure to catch the eye and delight the taste buds.

Easy Sourdough Bread Recipe | Tartine Basic Country Bread

Sourdough bread is a traditional type of bread made from a simple mixture of flour, water, salt, and naturally occurring yeast and bacteria.

Sourdough bread is a traditional type of bread made from a simple mixture of flour, water, salt, and naturally occurring yeast and bacteria. What sets sourdough apart from other types of bread is its unique fermentation process, which gives it a distinct tangy flavor and chewy texture. This process begins with a sourdough starter, a mixture of flour and water that captures wild yeast and bacteria from the environment. As the starter ferments, it becomes populated with a diverse community of microorganisms, including lactobacilli and wild yeast strains, which give sourdough its characteristic flavor and texture.

To make sourdough bread, a portion of the sourdough starter is mixed with flour, water, and salt to form a dough. This dough is then kneaded and allowed to ferment for an extended period, typically overnight or longer. During this time, the wild yeast and bacteria in the starter metabolize the sugars in the flour, producing carbon dioxide gas and organic acids. The carbon dioxide gas is trapped in the dough, causing it to rise, while the organic acids impart a tangy flavor to the bread.

After fermentation, the dough is shaped into loaves and allowed to proof before being baked in a hot oven. The high heat of the oven causes the carbon dioxide gas in the dough to expand further, creating an airy and light crumb, while the crust becomes golden and crisp.

The resulting sourdough bread is characterized by its tangy flavor, chewy texture, and rustic appearance. It pairs well with a variety of toppings and accompaniments, from butter and jam to cheese and charcuterie. Sourdough bread is also prized for its long shelf life and nutritional benefits, as the fermentation process helps to break down gluten and phytic acid, making it easier to digest and increasing the bioavailability of nutrients.

Overall, sourdough bread is more than just a type of bread—it’s a culinary tradition that has been passed down for generations. Its unique flavor, texture, and fermentation process make it a favorite among bread enthusiasts and a staple in kitchens around the world.

Mamon, a delightful sponge cake that is beloved in Filipino cuisine, is typically enjoyed as a snack often paired with a hot cup of coffee.

Ingredients

  • 6 eggs, separated

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 1/4 cup melted butter

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Zest of 1 lemon (optional, for added flavor)

  • Confectioners’ sugar, for dusting (optional)

Directions

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C), and prepare your muffin/cupcake pans by greasing them or using paper liners.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk the egg whites at high speed until they form stiff peaks. Set aside.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour and baking powder. Sift the mixture to ensure a light and airy texture.
  • In another large mixing bowl, cream together the egg yolks and sugar until they are well combined. You can use an electric mixer for this step.
  • Gradually add the milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and lemon zest (if using) to the egg yolk mixture. Mix well to incorporate all the ingredients thoroughly.
  • Slowly fold in the flour mixture into the egg yolk mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this may result in a denser texture.
  • Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter. This step will help create that airy and fluffy texture that mamon is known for. Remember to be gentle and fold until the mixture is homogeneous.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared muffin/cupcake pans, filling each cavity about ¾ full.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 15-20 minutes, or until the tops of the mamon are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Once baked, remove the mamon from the oven and let them cool in the pans for a few minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Dusted with confectioners’ sugar, serve the Filipino mamon as a delightful treat for afternoon tea, as a dessert, or simply enjoy them at any time when you crave something fluffy and delectable.

Notes

Easy Filipino Egg Pie Recipe

Filipino Egg Pie is a delectable dessert that holds a special place in Filipino cuisine, often enjoyed during family gatherings.

Filipino Egg Pie is a delectable dessert that holds a special place in Filipino cuisine. This delightful treat features a creamy custard filling encased in a flaky pie crust, resulting in a dessert that is both comforting and indulgent. Loved by many Filipinos, Egg Pie is often enjoyed during family gatherings, special occasions, or simply as a sweet treat to satisfy one’s cravings.

At the heart of Filipino Egg Pie lies its rich and velvety custard filling. Made primarily with eggs, condensed milk, sugar, and a hint of vanilla extract, this filling is what gives Egg Pie its distinctive flavor and creamy texture. The custard mixture is carefully whisked together until smooth and then poured into a pre-baked pie crust, where it bakes to perfection in the oven.

The pie crust itself is an essential component, providing a buttery and flaky base that complements the creamy custard filling. Traditionally made from scratch using a simple mixture of flour, butter, salt, and water, the pie crust is rolled out and fitted into a pie dish or tart pan before being pre-baked until golden brown.

Once the custard filling is poured into the pre-baked pie crust, the pie is returned to the oven to bake until the filling is set and the top is beautifully golden. The aroma of the baking pie fills the kitchen, tantalizing the senses with its sweet and comforting scent.

Filipino Egg Pie is typically served chilled or at room temperature, allowing the flavors to meld together and the custard filling to firm up slightly. Slices of Egg Pie are often enjoyed on their own, but they can also be accompanied by a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream for an extra indulgent treat.

In Filipino households, Egg Pie is more than just a dessert—it’s a beloved tradition that brings families together and creates lasting memories. Whether enjoyed during fiestas, holidays, or casual get-togethers, Filipino Egg Pie is a sweet reminder of the warmth and love shared among loved ones.

Egg pies are normally found in local bakeries and bakeshops, normally sold in slices. But you could have a whole fresh pie for yourself! Learn how to make one at home:
